Ah, this session is one I’ll never forget. Not only was it my first adventurous, out-of-state session, but it was also for my sweet bestie from college, Lauren, and her new fiancé, Harrison!! Lauren asked me if I’d be down for a quick 24-hour road trip to shoot their engagements in the mountains of New Mexico. To which, I promptly replied, “uhm…HECK YES!”. All three of us packed into the car before sunrise on a Saturday in October and headed out from Austin towards the mountains. I love love love the drive heading west from Texas because you see so many different scenic views along the way.
It took us about 9 hours to get to our INCREDIBLE Air BnB in Las Cruces. Seriously, this little adobe house was straight out of my DREAMS!! (Here is the posting: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/20405919?s=51) We had to shoot a little in the dreamy light of the house (pillow fight, included) before heading to the White Sands National Monument for sunset. We drove out to the sand dunes, shot for about 45 minutes in the stunning pink and blue hues of the sunset, had a dinner in the small town of Las Cruces, and then got rest for an early morning the next day. We woke up before the sun and headed to shoot at the area around the Organ Mountains. I’ll never forget when the sun slowly began to peek through the neighboring mountain summits. Simply breathtaking. Afterward, we made a quick stop for donuts and headed back home.
I’m so grateful Lo + Harrison asked me to capture this special season for them, and I had SO much fun shooting their sweet and silly love. Hoping for more mountain sessions this year!! If you’re willing to get a little adventurous, one of these sessions may be right for you! Check out my Bucket List (in the Menu bar) for some inspiration ;)
